Centennial Belles of Port Alberni
Visions of Vintage

July 13th, 14th, and 1th

Residents of all ages; men and women, boys and girls are invited to dress up “Jane Austen” style and join us in the promenade on July 15th where we will be challenging the Guinness Book of World Records for “the most people dressed in Regency costume at one gathering”.

This community with the help of Out of Town residents can do this! We will be put on the world map and hopefully beat the present record set by Bath England of 409 people. In 2016 we were so close with 265 people who are sworn to bring one more each for 2017.

  • July 14th, 15th, and 16th

  • will be filled with wonderful events for all ages:

  • Afternoon Teas every day

  • Murder Mysteries Austen Style

  • Readings and Scenes from Austen's works

  • Seminars on life in Regency Times

  • A Middleton Ball for the entire family

  • The Guinness World Record Count at Glenwood Centre.

  • Promenade around the Bob Dailey Stadium Track and then onto  Harbour Quay by car, and the Centennial Pier,

  • Family steam train ride and family picnic at McLean Mill with Regency Era games for children.

  • and a fabulous Grande Ball to be held on the evening of the 15th.

This is going to be a lot of fun so please consider gathering your fmily, staff/group/club or society together and challenge others to do the same.

  • Many of our young Albernians are involved already! What a great educational experience to relive the nineteenth century in the time of Jane Austen! They are studying her writings, watching the many movies made on her writings and learning the graces, customs and sensibilities of days gone by.

Each person can create a new and interesting personae to have fun with all weekend of the festival.

To help everyone to achieve their goals we will be offering:

  • Free workshops on putting one together from a thrift store,

  • Gentleman's clothing and its “easy fix”

  • children's options

  • Hat and Bonnet workshops for sewers and non-sewers.

Dance workshops on English Country Dancing as in the Jane Austen Movies.
